Getting Started with Essential Oils

So you want to get into essential oils?

Great choice!

I use oils in my home every.single.day for everything from cooking and cleaning, to bug bites and panic attacks!

I've been using essential oils for years now and knowing how to use them is like second nature at this point.

But when you are first starting out it can all seem very overwhelming.

Let me break things down for you! From how to sign up to what to order, hopefully this page will help you more easily navigate the crazy wonderful world of oils!

Read more about using oils with your baby!

5 Must Have Essential Oils For New Moms

Step One: Signing Up

You do have to sign up to order Young Living oils and you can do it in one of two ways.

First Option: Sign up as a retail costumer and pay nothing extra in the way of a membership fee. You do pay 24% more this way on the actual price of the oils, but if you're trying to get started for less money, this might do... depending on what you're ordering though, that 24% adds up!

Second Option: Sign up as a wholesale member. This is my recommendation!

You can look at it as a Sam's Club or Costco membership, except that this is not a yearly fee (you only have to sign up once as long as you spend at least $50 a year on oils) AND you get products for the money!!

You can spend $40 and get:

  • Citrus Fresh 5-ml
  • AromaGlide™ Roller Fitment
  • 2 Lavender Sample Packets
  • 2 Peppermint Sample Packets
  • 2 Peace & Calming Sample Packets
  • 2 Lemon Sample Packets
  • 2 Thieves Sample Packets
  • 2 NingXia Red® 2-oz. samples
  • 3 Sample Packet Business Cards
  • Welcome to Young Living booklet
  • Essential Oils at a Glance user’s guide
  • Distributor Resource Guide
  • S.E.E.D. Sharing for Success booklet
  • Distributor Agreement
  • Product Guide and Product Price List
  • Or (my recommendation) is that you spend $160 get all this!! A $240+ retail value!

  • Everyday Oils™ collection A $170 retail value on its own and includes:
  • Singles

  • 1 - 5 ml Frankincense
  • 1 - 5 ml Lemon
  • 1 - 5 ml Lavender
  • 1 - 5 ml Melaleuca Alternifolia
  • 1 - 5 ml Peppermint
  • Blends

  • 1 - 5 ml Joy™
  • 1 - 5 ml Purification®
  • 1 - 5 ml PanAway®
  • 1 - 5 ml Thieves®
  • 1 - 5 ml Stress Away™
  • The all-new Aroma Diffuser - $80+ on its own!
  • Citrus Fresh 5-ml
  • AromaGlide™ Roller Fitment
  • 2 Lavender Sample Packets
  • 2 Peppermint Sample Packets
  • 2 Peace & Calming Sample Packets
  • 2 Lemon Sample Packets
  • 2 Thieves Sample Packets
  • 2 NingXia Red® 2-oz. samples
  • Business cards sample pack
  • Welcome to Young Living booklet
  • Essential Oils at a Glance user’s guide
  • Member Resource Guide
  • S.E.E.D. Sharing for Success booklet
  • Member Agreement
  • Product Guide
  • Or you just join as a customer and pay retail prices. It's up to you!

But like I said... That 24% savings adds up quick though...

Let them know who sent you (and it gives me a little bonus) by clicking here to sign up under my member number!

It's already filled in at the link above, but just so you have it...

Now that you've signed up and gotten your account ready, what should you order?!

    Step Two: What to Order?

Here's a little run down on some of my favorite oils... just to give you a jumping off point, if you need one!

Or your can read Young Living's Guide to Essential Oils for every day use.

    Anyway, here are my recommendations.

There are 4 oils that I would get right off the bat to start with and then build from there. They are also the top 4 oils that help address  "everything" and are the ones that I tend to use the most!

Lemon: This helps with fatigue and increases mental clarity. Helps with sore throat issues and is a powerful disinfectant.lemon-essential-oil

Lavender: I use this oil to help with allergies, infections, to get to sleep at night, to calm anxiety, and to heal small wounds quickly. Lavender also helps with hormonal balancing.Lavender

Thieves: This is what we use for cleaning everything now! And it's a known killer of black mold (Yay for us in humid climates, right?!) Thieves

Plus, it's great for cleaning everything! We use the Thieves Cleaner as dishwasher soap, laundry soap, toilet cleaner, shower cleaner, disinfectant, and everything in between!

It's also amazing at fighting things like migraines, strep throat, ear infections and more...

You've seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding? "Just put some Windex on it..."?

Well, "Just put some thieves on it" will become your new catch phrase!

Peppermint: This one is for headaches, focus, clarity, satisfaction after a meal, respiratory support... and it's just generally amazing to smell!Peppermint

    * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

So, those are the ones that I would start with... And they are all included in that $160 wholesale package above!

But here are some others that I can highly recommend too. These are called "blends" and they are, well, blends of several oils. Their names usually match what they do to some extent. And these are only the tip of the iceberg... this post would be novel length if I shared every oil that I love!

Into The Future: Little story about this one. I was having a panic attack one day that was so bad I could hardly breathe and my husband just quietly grabbed the diffuser, put this oil into it and turned it on... Into The Future essential oil

Within 15 minutes I was bouncing around happy as a lark! I realized that I had just done a 180 and asked him what had happened. He told me that he had started the diffuser with this in it! Crazy...

RutaVaLa: I use this oil every night to help get to sleep. It used to take HOURS for me to fall asleep, now it's only a few minutes, max.RutaVaLa

Dragon Time: This one specifically helps during your menstruation cycle. Helps with pain as well as emotional issues!Dragon Time essential Oil

    * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

So there you have it... getting started with essential oils is hopefully a little less daunting now.

But like I said, if you have ANY questions, shoot me an email!

Do you use the thieves cleaners? I just got my starter pack and have gotten rid of every cleaner in my house, put a bottle of spray (1/2 cap full + 16oz of water) in every bathroom and 3 different concentrations in my kitchen, I put it in the dishwasher and laundry. I love it. Haven’t really figured out the oils yet. But thats my next project. I have also started drinking 2 Oz of the Ning Xia red and was able to stop taking some of my medication I’ve been taking daily for over a year.

Yes!! I use it at dishwashing liquid in my dish washer… I use it as laundry soap (sometimes)… and it’s the only “cleaner” we use in our whole house! It’s amazing!!

I’m excited that you’re starting EOs! Good luck!!
