From turnovers to chocolate filled pastries, this puff pastry is a wonderful addition to any einkorn kitchen! Handmade in our commercial kitchen with a delightfully rustic appearance and imperfect edges, you can trim the edges for a more precise look, or enjoy the handmade feel!
Einkorn Puff Pastry Dough Directions:
Keep frozen until the night before you are ready to use, then place it in the fridge to come to fridge temp overnight. Remove dough from fridge about 45 minutes before use.
Unroll the puff pastry and remove the paper. Cut puff pastry into whatever shape you'd like, fill as desired, and crimp the edges as needed.
Whisk a whole egg and thin with a few drops of water. Piece steam vents in the top, if folded, and brush any exposed puff pastry with whisked egg to help with browning.
Place prepped puff pastries on a baking sheet and chill in the freezer for at least 20 minutes. Pre-heat oven to 400°F and place chilled pastries directly into the hot oven. Bake for 22-24 minutes, or until pastries are golden brown.
Allow to cool for 15 minutes and toss with icing, as desired.
Simple Icing Recipe: Mix 1 cup of powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk. Whisk until smooth and drizzle over pastries. Enjoy!
