Learning to make brownies from scratch is a rite-of-passage for any baker. This brownie recipes makes it the easiest rite-of-passage you’ll ever experience in your life!

Just dump all the ingredients in a mixing bowl, mix, and pour. It’s honestly easier than a box mix!

And I can guarantee you’ll have rave reviews for your finished brownies from everyone who tries them!

HINT: Make a double batch. You won’t be sorry!

Homemade Brownies From Scratch

For this brownie recipe I use einkorn flour (like all my wheat based recipes), however, you can use any type of wheat flour you’d like to use and they will still turn out perfectly!

When I say this recipe is crazy easy, I really mean it.

Just take all your ingredients in whatever order you grab them in (except the chocolate chips), dump them unceremoniously into the bowl of an electric mixer, and mix.

Don’t worry about overmixing – if you happen to overmix, the brownies will be a little less dense than normal. No biggie.

Add the chocolate chips to the batter and mix briefly. Then pour your batter into a buttered 9×12 baking dish and bake 350° for 35-45 minutes or until clean toothpick.

Allow to cool before serving for the perfect bakery brownie texture!

NOTE: If you are using a mild cocoa powder, you may need to increase the amount to 1/4 cup. If you are using dark chocolate cocoa powder, then the 2 tablespoons will still be fine.

Seriously, if you think delicious, fudgey brownies are beyond your baking skill level – think again! These are bakery level brownies that will have everyone begging for more.

Make sure you have some cold milk or vanilla ice cream on hand, and you have the perfect dessert for any occasion!

Toppings for Your Homemade Brownies

While we usually enjoy our from-scratch brownies as they are, sometimes we go all out and spruce them up with a topping or two!

Here are a few of our favorite toppings for homemade brownies:

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream: While vanilla is traditional (and we love it too), homemade mint chocolate chip is a solid choice!

Chocolate Syrup: If you opt for the vanilla ice cream route, this homemade chocolate syrup is a must have addition to the mix!

Marshmallows: Marshmallows turn into gooey, yummy melted goodness when placed on a warm brownie. If you want to try this, place your marshmallows on the brownies as soon as they come out of the oven!

Here is the homemade marshmallow recipe that we’ve perfected over the years.

Hello! Can I use a different sugar? I’d like to use honey or maple syrup.

Hi Tara! Yes, we use maple syrup all the time with these. A few notes – you will likely need to add more flour, so just be aware of that if the batter is too thin. Also, the texture is a bit more cakey with maple syrup than it is like a brownie. Still SUPER delicious, just wanted to let you know :-)
