Learn how to make my favorite taco recipe of all time.  Even the ranch dressing is homemade!  Your family will be begging for these tacos every Tuesday.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Tacos Recipe

Oh how my son loves tacos.  If it’s Tuesday, you can bet tacos are on the menu.  The first time I added bacon to tacos, I think I saw a tear in the corner of my husband’s eye.

These tacos have juicy, grilled chicken paired with zingy homemade ranch, served with crispy bacon.  If you’ve ever made homemade tortillas, then you know there’s no comparison to what they sell in the store.  Fresh, homemade tortillas are soft, moist, and come out perfectly textured.

Besides, tortillas aren’t hard to make!  My son loves to join in the fun of making tortillas.  Especially when it comes time to press the tortillas out flat.

And isn’t that how food should be?  A way to bring families together?  What better way than getting the kids involved in prepping for Taco Tuesday!

While making tortillas, beware.  I notice an alarming amount of tortillas go missing before dinner is even done.  I think it may have something to do with a little boy who is “helping” his mom make dinner.

The other thing my family enjoys about tacos is how each person can make a taco their own way.  Sometimes we make dinner, and somebody in the family isn’t 100% thrilled about what’s on the menu.  However, with tacos, everyone can grab the ingredients they like on their tacos best.

Before I give you this recipe, I have some advice.  Do not serve these chicken tacos to your family unless you are willing to make it every week.  They are going to love it!

You have been warned. ;-)

STEP ONE:

Prepare your homemade tortillas.  While it only takes 5 minutes to prep the dough for your tortillas, the dough will need to rest 50 minutes before the tortillas are rolled out.

I like to do this step first, then while my chicken and bacon is cooking, I can start cooking the tortillas.  It takes about 20 minutes to roll out and cook all the tortillas, so as soon as your chicken and bacon is cooking get your tortillas going.

STEP TWO:

Prepare the 2 Minute Ranch Dressing and place it in the fridge to chill while you make the rest of the recipe.

You can absolutely use store-bought ranch dressing, but we really love the zip of this homemade ranch dressing!

STEP THREE:

Grill 1-pound of chicken breast as you normally grill your chicken.  Let the chicken rest for a bit before slicing.

STEP FOUR:

While your chicken is grilling, cook 6 bacon slices as you normally do.  I like to bake mine in the oven so the pieces stay nice and straight.  If you sprinkle a bit of water on top, this will help the bacon to come out looking flat and more evenly cooked.

However, if you prefer to fry your bacon, go for it!  Bacon will definitely crumble more easily when it is fried.

STEP FIVE:

Heat up your already cooked black beans on the stove-top.

STEP SIX:

Cook your tortillas. Don’t forget to cover your tortillas up as you go, or they will dry up.  You want a soft and warm tortilla for serving.

The homemade tortilla is what really elevates this chicken taco.

STEP SEVEN:

Chop your tomatoes and lettuce and place them in separate bowls. Then slice your chicken into your desired size and crumble your bacon.

STEP Eight:

Open up the tortillas and fill with chicken, beans, tomatoes, and lettuce.  Sprinkle your bacon then drizzle the ranch dressing over the top of your taco.

NOTE: If you’re adding guacamole (which I highly recommend), be sure to spread a thick layer on the tortilla before filling it!

And there you have it, the most addicting taco you will ever eat!
