Victoria Pruett Author: Victoria Pruett   Updated: March 24, 2020

Freezing food is a great way to ensure food security! It helps your food last longer and enables you to buy things on sale. Here is a list of common food items that can be frozen!

I’ve compiled a list of several common foods you can freeze to help you fill up your freezer and have food on hand for any situation.

I hope you find this list of what you can freeze extremely helpful.  If nothing else, it will help you from going to the grocery store as frequently, which will help save money on groceries in the long run!

Freezer Friendly Foods

My family has stored all of these freezer friendly foods (and more).  I rest a little easier knowing that we could go many weeks without interacting with a grocery store.

And while this is nothing new to us here, it is new for many people! Hopefully these freezer friendly foods will help you find a little security in your food supply!

How to Freeze Milk

Storing milk is an extremely easy freezer friendly food “drink”. If you buy it at the grocery store, just keep it in the container and check out these easy steps for freezing milk to keep it tasting just right when you thaw it out.

How to Freeze Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are easy to freeze.  Whether you want single servings or an entire family serving follow these simple directions to have frozen mashed potatoes stored and ready!

How to Freeze French Fries

Kids and adults love french fries and even if your grocery store runs out, you can still have frozen french fries ready to go whenever a hankering hits.  Follow these directions to learn how to freeze homemade french fries.

How to Freeze Avocados

Nobody likes an overly ripe and brown avocado.  Sometimes it’s impossible to devour them all before they get that go bad.  Also if you are finding them hard to get during times like the Superbowl and when there are shortages at stores, know that you can freeze avocados easily for later use.

How to Freeze Eggs

Another great item to have on hand is eggs. It only takes a few seconds to prep eggs for freezing and can make baking a lot easier in times of need!

With eggs on hand you can make easy breakfasts or dinner recipes, and it increases the number of baked goods you can make as well!

Bulk Freezer Meals

There is NOTHING better than having a meal prepped and ready to go in your freezer. Bulk freezer meals are a simple way to feed a family and keep your sanity.  This is also great for when you can get items on sale, but you don’t want to eat the same thing over and over.  Get all the tips for bulk freezer meals here.

How to Cook a Frozen Chicken

If you have already frozen chicken in the freezer, it’s way easier to cook than you might think! Learn how to cook a frozen chicken without all the fuss of thawing it beforehand here. Though your chicken will spend more time in the oven, it will be a quicker turnover than if you had to wait for it to thaw.

How to Cook a Frozen Turkey

And if you are looking for a way to switch it up, find out how to cook a frozen turkey without all the fuss of thawing it beforehand here.  Again, your turkey is going to hang out in the oven for longer, but it will prevent all the craze of thawing it first!

Knowing which foods you can easily freeze means you can absolutely stock up and freeze items so you can lessen your frequency in grocery stores. It certainly is more convenient to walk to your freezer than it is to make a trip to the grocery store.

The other benefits to having a stocked freezer is having more time to do the things you WANT to do or NEED to do.  Frequent trips to the grocery store can be such a time drain (especially when you’re 45 minutes from a grocery store, like we are).

And if you’re stuck at home for awhile, you could use the extra time to prepare bulk freezer meals that you’ll benefit from for months to come!
