I love fall, it’s my favorite season (even though Christmas is my favorite holiday)! Whether it’s decorating with fall printables, or baking a classic fall dessert, I love the cozy vibes that autumn brings. And of course, the warm spices and scents that go along with the season too!

4 Irresistible Fall Simmer Pot Recipes

Whether you’re hosting guests, decorating for the season, or just want your house to smell like a warm fall hug, these fall simmer pots are easy to make and can be reused for several days. You can even make them in the crockpot for a hands-off option that keeps the scent going all day long.

How to Make a Simmer Pot

While this process is super simple, there are a few things that will help make this season your best simmer pot season ever!

  1. Making Your Simmer Pot – Place all ingredients in a pot and cover with water (about 2-3 cups), simmer on low to medium heat. As the ingredients heat up, you can adjust the smell to your liking. I always start on the lower end of the ingredients and add more if I think the smell needs to be stronger.
  2. Keep it Low – When heating ingredients for your simmer pot, it’s best to keep your pot on low/med heat. This allows the smell of the ingredients to escape without being cooked through too quickly. If the heat on your pot is too high, the scent will be strong but won’t last more than a few hours.
  3. Hands-off Option – These recipes can also be used in your crock pot on high! Follow the same steps as for a stove-top option and enjoy!
  4. Maintain Water Levels – Keep an eye on the potpourri every so often. If water gets low, just add more water to the pot, enough to cover the ingredients.
  5. Reuse – These simmering pots can be used for a couple of days on low heat. But if they are heating on a high setting, the scent will burn out more quickly (a few hours).

Any given citrus can be swapped for other citrus options. Oranges have a very distinct scent, however, other citrus smells will still provide a wonderful aroma. If you don’t have a certain citrus on hand, swap it out for another one.
