I love handmade everything.
Handmade gifts, custom Santa’s workshop wrapping… So I knew I needed to have a handmade gift tag to go along with everything else.

Handmade 3D Christmas Gift Tags

But this year, since time is so short I was tempted to buy some tags just for the convenience. However, since we maintain such a tight budget I knew I needed to find a way to make these pretty 3D Christmas gift tags myself in a very short period of time!

And I needed to find supplies that kept this project on the cheap side! I found a great (and super affordable) alternative to washi tape that kept costs low!

First, head to your local craft store, or click the links in this post to grab your supplies.

Supplies to make christmas gift tags

You will need the following:
* Brown Craft Paper (I used textured cardstock in a craft paper tone)
* Decorative Tape (I used this kind of tape that was crazy affordable!)
* String (I used some red crochet thread I had left over from a different project)
* A 3D Christmas Decorative Item (Here are a few options)
* Hole punch
* Glue

Once you have all the supplies in hand, print the tag template onto your brown paper (grab the template at the bottom of this post).

Cut out the tags and add the tape across the bottom of each tag.

I chose a two different tape pattern to mix things up a bit, you could do as many or as few as you’d like! I loved the fact that this skinny decorative Duck Tape came in so many different colors!

My husband was with my while I was shopping for this project, otherwise I would have gotten more of the options!!

Next, grab your glue stick, attach your 3D flare, and punch a hole at the top of your tag.

Then cut a piece of string about 10 inches long. Tie the ends together and feed it through the punched hole. Loop one end inside the other!

DIY christmas gift tags ready for names

Now all that’s left is to write the names as you are ready to use them!
