Creamy, zesty, and packed with flavor, this Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing is our homemade take on the Chick‑Fil‑A classic—and it’s ready in just 5 minutes! Perfect for wraps, greens, or dipping chicken!

Homemade Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing
I’m a sucker for all things ranch and all things avocado. So naturally, this avocado lime ranch dressing is a favorite of mine! Though the Chick-Fil-A version is delicious, I can’t tolerate seed oils these days! So I decided it was time to make my own so that I could control the oils used.
If you want to control the ingredients, or just want to be able to make it at home without having to spend the money at Chick-Fil-A, then this recipe is for you! Add this to salads, wraps, or dip these homemade copycat Chick-Fil-A nuggets in it instead!
Best Tips for This Recipe
Having made this quite a few times now, here are my tips for making this the best avocado lime ranch dressing experience ever!
- Mayo Choice – What type of mayonnaise you use matters! Because it is the base for the recipe, a strong-tasting mayo will change the flavor of the dressing. So use a mayo that you like first and go from there.
- Let it Rest – While you definitely can make this and use it right away, if you can let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour (or better, overnight), then the flavors will be even more blended together.
- Use it Quickly – Unlike my homemade ranch dressing, this really needs to be used within a day or two. The avocado in the dressing will start to oxidize and taste a little funky after that.

Ingredients
Here’s everything you need to whip up this dreamy avocado lime ranch. The full measurements can be found on the printable recipe card at the end of the post!
- Mayonnaise – We like to use our homemade mayo, but you can use Hellmann’s, Dukes, or your favorite vegan version.
- Avocado – One large, perfectly ripe avocado gives it that silky texture.
- Ranch Seasoning – Use a packet or homemade ranch seasoning mix – both will work beautifully!
- Lime Juice & Zest – Fresh juice plus a pinch of zest amps up the signature flavor of this dressing.
- White Vinegar – Adds brightness and balances the richness. You can use apple cider vinegar, but the flavor will be different.
- Sugar, Cumin & Salt – A trio of flavor enhancers bringing all the layers together.
- Olive Oil – Or swap in avocado oil if you prefer.
- Water or Milk – Just a bit to smooth everything out, if needed.

Instructions
The process for making this dressing is as simple as you think! Have a quick look at the directions and then get excited about having this on hand from now on!
- Prep – Halve your avocado, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a blender or food processor. Zest and squeeze your lime.
- Blend – Add the remaining ingredients and blend or pulse until velvety smooth. You will need to scrape down the sides several times and blend again to get a fully smooth texture.
- Adjust – Taste your dressing and adjust. If it’s too thick for tossing with salads, add a touch more water or milk to thin it out.
- Chill – Let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour if you can. This helps the flavors come together beautifully.
- Enjoy! – Store in the fridge for up to a week. Drizzle over wraps, toss it with crunchy salads, or serve as a dip for veggies, chicken tenders, or tacos!
