The Secret to Perfect Hawaiian Roll Sliders
- Choosing the perfect roll - The first secret to a perfect Hawaiian roll slider is using the right kind of rolls. Look for soft and slightly sweet Hawaiian rolls that will provide a tender texture and a hint of sweetness to balance the flavors of the fillings. These rolls can be found in most grocery stores or you can make your own. We make our own Einkorn Hawaiian Rolls due to a gluten allergy and the recipe is a perfect copycat!
- Flavorful Fillings - The key to a memorable Hawaiian roll slider is choosing flavorful fillings. Opt for ingredients that complement the sweetness of the rolls and bring a burst of tropical goodness. We prefer ham and swiss, or turkey and cheddar with a homemade sauce and garlic glaze. But you can mix it up with pulled pork, grilled chicken, or even teriyaki-glazed beef. Pair them with melted cheese, caramelized onions, pineapple slices, or a zesty sauce to add depth and complexity to each bite.
- Toasted Goodness - The final secret to achieving perfection is toasting the sliders to achieve a golden, slightly crispy exterior and a melted, gooey interior. After assembling your sliders, place them in the oven or under the broiler for a few minutes until the cheese is melted and the rolls are toasted to perfection. This step enhances the flavors and adds a satisfying crunch to each bite.

Ingredients
Here's a quick look at the ingredients for these homemade Hawaiian Roll Sliders. There is also a printable recipe card at the end of the post. This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled for a party or for bulk freezer cooking!
- Sweet Rolls - We use homemade Hawaiian rolls, as the name of the recipe would suggest. But you can use any yeast roll that you enjoy most. The sweet and soft nature of the Hawaiian rolls really compliments the meat and cheese well, so I do recommend it!
- Deli Meat - Most Hawaiian roll recipes call for ham, which is delicious. We also enjoy this recipe with a turkey deli meat as well.
- Cheese - If using ham in this recipe, pair it with a swiss cheese. If using turkey, pair it with a cheddar cheese.
- Mayonnaise - We like to use this as a quick and easy sauce base and it creates a delicious creamy finished texture after heating.
- Mustard - We use yellow mustard most often, but Dijon mustard is also delicious! This adds a little zing to the sauce.
- Butter - The base for the garlic butter that will create a golden glaze on the top of the finished buns. Optional, but recommended.
- Garlic - Seasoning for the garlic butter that goes on top of the buns. Again, optional but recommended!
- Parsley - Completely optional, but gives a pleasant finished look to the garlic butter tops.
