Weird Trick for Cutting Onions

We’ve all been there… Tears streaming down our faces as we determinedly continue cutting onions! With as much canning as I tend to do, and all the bulk cooking too, I’m often cutting large quantities of onions.

What I’m about to share with you is one of my all time favorite kitchen tips. Cutting onions without tears is seriously magical!

And believe me, before this I had tried EVERYTHING to free myself from the pain (because it’s not just tears!) of cutting onions!

Ok, I seriously need to try this!! It can't be that easy!The WEIRD Trick for cutting onions without tears that you've NEVER heard before!

Lighting a match, nope. But hey, now I want birthday cake.

Chewing gum… Wrong again.

Cold onions don’t make you cry right? I WISH!

And so on and so on.

Finally, my amazing husband got so tired of my eyes killing me after a long day of cooking, that he did some research. And what he found was a downright miracle!!

The Weird Trick for Cutting Onions without Tears

5 drops of any pure citrus essential oil (Lemon, Citrus Fresh, Grapefruit, Orange) placed in my diffuser next to me while I chop keeps me pain and tear free!

What? How, you ask??

It turns out that limonene in the citrus oils bind with the oil from the onions that causes tears… and then it just goes away without stopping to bother you!

Love it!

Yes, this really works. Yes, I do it every time I have to cut onions. Yes, it works for other people too!
